Providing Filled PDF Files to Users

Overview

When a user submits your WPForms form, you may want them to receive the filled PDF file. There are two main ways to provide the filled PDF to your users:

  1. Send the filled PDF as an attachment in an email notification
  2. Provide a download link to the filled PDF file after form submission

This article explains both methods.

Sending Filled PDFs by Email

After you attach the PDF file to your form, you can configure it to be sent as an attachment in email notifications:

  1. Navigate to your form’s settings and select the PDF Forms tab
  2. Find your attached PDF file and click the Options button
  3. In the Attach the filled PDF file to the following notifications section, select the notifications where you want to include the PDF
  4. Save your changes

Keep in mind that email servers often limit attachment sizes. If your filled PDF is too large, the email might be rejected by the recipient’s mail server.

If you want to provide a download link for the filled PDF after form submission:

  1. Navigate to your form’s settings and select the PDF Forms tab
  2. Find your attached PDF file and click the Options button
  3. In the Add download link to filled PDF file to the following confirmations section, select the confirmation(s) where you want to include the download link
  4. Save your changes

The PDF download link will become available after the user submits the form and sees the confirmation message.

Keep in mind that the download link is temporary and will expire. After this time, the link will no longer work and the user will need to submit the form again to get a new link.
